My entry into ceramics was from the point of investigating the integration of graphic images to the. surfaces of ceramic forms. Inspired by the Russian revolutionary (Agitprop) ceramics produced by artists such as Kazimir Malevich and Wassily Kandinsky between 1917-27 as well as the extensive European tradition of producing Souvenir Ceramics that marked significant moments in time such as a coronation, victory in battle or a royal union.

Contemporary Commemorative ceramics is still a popular form of marking significant Historic and Cultural events. How many thousands of homes have a Charles and Diana or Harry and Meaghan coffee mug in the China cabinet.

My interest in this area has been to commemorate the less talked about less savoury human events that take place in our world.
