This series had been deeply embedded in my psyche for half a century. Ever since I first experienced the way sea birds accompany boats in the 1960s. Making their way across the Sydney Harbour or any harbour by night. The way they move in and out of view, through the darkness like puffs of spirits. A thrilling, wonderous childhood memory.
